Belgrade on Film

December 1, 2009

I mentioned in another post that Kvazibarki’s Laci Josza came down to do some filming in Belgrade when I was there. He has edited a very short film, and it gives a good introductory picture of the city – it’s ancient fortress dating back to the 4th Century AD, the faded, grand town centre, and above all the spirit of it’s people. Laci hopes to make a longer version soon, but for the moment, enjoy this one.

I wrote a short piece for Wisden Cricketer today, and you can find it here. It is about Serbian cricket, and it was timely because I received two great pieces of news from Vladimir Ninkovic, the General Secretary of Serbian Cricket today. Firstly, the Serbian Cricket Federation has been officially recognized by the Ministry of Sport in the country. And secondly, the Serbian Cricket Federation have been invited to play at the European Twenty 20 competition in Skopje, Macedonia next July. Well done to all involved with Serbian Cricket – a bright future awaits.

Brilliant. Sent it to Hayden so he can see the state of things over that way.

    Looks like a grand adventure!

Oli that was absolutely fabulous … and we also got to see you do a bit of cricket action, nice er bowl mate !!! It is really great to hear news that people all over the world are normal and nice instead of the representation of our race in the media .. Congratulations to the Serbian Cricket Campaigners 🙂 Oli where do you think you will be for Christmas? Take care of yourself, I realise it is not at all, just fun and games and a test of endurance so .. keep going we are all behind you back in the UK .. Lots of love Georgie xx

It all sounds so exciting from the comfort of a centrally heated house in CD but the thought of packing up a wet tent on a dark cold wet morning and then cycling uphill on your own, makes me realise that I may have to wait till next year to set out and do the same.On 2nd thoughts!! Well done and having just skyped Simon in Sydney I hope you arrange a rendevous somewhere as he passes the other way. Not on a bike! ATB Suart
